OPEN CALL FOR DIRECTORS, PLAYWRIGHTS, ACTORS
Rorschach is holding an open call for DC-Area emerging Directors, Playwrights, and Actors for the 2026 Klecksography project, taking place August 22 – 30, 2026. (Directors and Playwrights will be with the project until Aug 29, Actors will remain with the project for additional shows on August 30).
KLECKSOGRAPHY projects commission more than 30 artists to create and stage six new short plays inspired by a single piece of visual art. The project takes place over 10 days and focuses on providing creative challenges, visibility, and networking opportunities to emerging artists. The project culminates in four performances over two days.
The 2026 Klecksography project will take place at the Stacks in Buzzard Point and will be catalyzed by a piece of public art on the grounds of the Stacks.
Directors
Rorschach will choose six DC-Area directors to work on Klecksography 2026. Directors will be compensated with a $100 honorarium. Rorschach will cast the projects and connect directors with their script/playwright. In the application you’ll be asked some questions about your artistic vision and aesthetic sensibilities.
PLAYWRIGHTS
Rorschach will choose six DC-Area playwrights to write short plays for Klecksography 2026. Playwrights will be compensated with a $100 honorarium. Rorschach will cast the projects and connect playwrights with their director and cast. In the application you’ll be asked some questions about your artistic vision and aesthetic sensibilities and to upload a 3-5 page writing sample.
ACTORS
Rorschach will choose eighteen DC-Area actors to perform in Klecksography 2026. Actors will be compensated with a $150 honorarium. Actors for our 2026 Klecksography will be chosen from our Season 26/27 open call virtual audition. There is a question in the form that asks if you wish to be considered for Klecksography.
