Below is important information about attending DISTANCE FREQUENCIES: TRANSMISSION.
If you have any questions at all, please email us at info@rorschachtheatre.com.
The performance will take place on the palatial Great Lawn at the Parks at Historic Walter Reed in Northwest DC. There’s plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the final chapter of this story a year in the making.
We encourage you to bring food and drinks – alcohol is allowed on the lawn – as well as blankets and/or lawn chairs. Like other “lawn seating” venues, there are no fixed chairs and the audience watches the show “picnic style.” You may wish to bring bug spray as well, as the field has DC’s usual summer insects.
The show begins at 8pm each night and the lawn opens to the public at 7:15pm.
The event runs about 75 minutes with no intermission. Come early to enjoy the scenery and the lawn as well as experiencing our pre-show display.
CONCESSIONS: There will be water, soda, and snacks available at the show. You are also welcome to bring food and drinks – alcohol is allowed on the lawn.
HEADPHONES: The show’s sound will be broadcast to over-the-ear headphones that we provide to the audience. You will receive instructions on how to use the very simple devices when you check in. The headphones are compatible with In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids but are NOT compatible with Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids. Please email us to let us know if you have a Behind The Ear hearing aid and we will provide you with a script to follow along with the action on stage.
All headphones will be disinfected between performances.
RESTROOMS: There are three portable restrooms on the edge of the field. One of them is ADA compliant.
ADA ACCESS TO PERFORMANCE LOCATION: There is a ramp on the far end of the field for ADA accessibility. Let us know if you have any questions or need assistance.
The address of the main gate is 1010 Butternut Street NW, Washington DC 20012.
IMPORTANT: Please use the entrance at Georgia Avenue and Butternut Streets NW. Some GPS devices may route you to a 16th Street entrance that is not always open.
Once inside the gate, the main road (Butternut Street) takes you directly to The Great Lawn.
It winds and turns a little and the field will be on your left. A map can be found HERE.
The Takoma metro is a 15-20 minute walk from the location.
The 70 buses stop in front of the entrance at Georgia Ave & Butternut St. NW.
Free parking is available onsite in small lots and the roadways within The Parks. There is no parking enforcement in the evening and you can ignore signs that say “reserved parking, permit required” etc. A parking map can be found HERE.
In the event of rain that’s more than a slight drizzle, we will cancel the show. Ticket holders will be notified by email as early as possible, but in some cases this may be close to show time. Announcements will be posted on our website and social media. Tickets may be rescheduled for a different performance date at no cost.
Rorschach will follow CDC and local guidelines with regard to outdoor masking requirements at the time of the performances. Audiences will have appropriately distanced seating areas throughout the Great Lawn. Hand sanitizer will be available and all Rorschach Theatre staff and artists will be vaccinated. All headphones will be disinfected between performances.
MASKS: All Rorschach staff and artists are vaccinated and may choose not to be masked. Masks are optional for vaccinated audience members. Masks are required for un-vaccinated audience members. We encourage all audience members to get vaccinated if you have not already.
